Since 2019 even now , the Improve your society organization IYSO still working in partnership with NED to implement the Monitoring public services projects with aim engaging youth in promoting good governance in service institutions and enhancing their role in advocating and improve public services in the clean, water and sanitation sectors in Taiz city, according to a methodology focused on monitoring services provided by the water and clean institutions, including an assessment of the policies, plans and levels of transparency and integrity in the target institutions,
As well as the IYSO’s activities focus on accountability on services provided to citizens and knowledge of the challenges related to the relevant service institutions and local executive authorities and play roles to analyses these problems through hold meetings between All stakeholders to discuss those challenges, find out the reasons and come up with recommendations to address the problems.
The monitoring team conduct visits to the departments of target foundations in three districts and produce quarterly monitoring reports, present its findings to local authorities and follow up on local governance action plans, and convene public meetings to engage the community and stakeholders in a discussion of its monitoring findings.
In this project, three community committees were established to advocate for water issues with the aim of mobilizing formal and informal efforts to improve services ,these committees received support from community members and the local authority in Taiz governorate.
In addition, the local authority issued an official decision to form a community advocacy committee for water and clean issues, the committee consists of all stakeholders.
IYSO is committed to promoting good governance practices and engaging youth in monitoring government performance at the local level .
As a result for efforts in this field , the IYSO has launched the first social accountability forum in Taiz city with aim to improving good governance and combating corruption in public institutions.
